Graduate Collection:
‘Fragility of Memory’2024
My graduate collection explored the fragile nature of memory. Through a sensitive approach to the materials and process I strove to capture a sense of vulnerability.
By carefully heating fine silver wire to the point just as it is beginning to melt yet refraining before complete collapse leaves the material frozen in a delicate and fragile state. This method is difficult to control and often unpredictable which allowed me to work intuitively and required an element of trust in the material. Additionally, using the method of press forming to imprint silver sheet with these small compositions leaving behind the impression or ‘memory’ of the pattern.
Adjustable Sterling silver, glass bead neckpiece Following my Graduate Degree Show this collection was brought down to London to be exhibited at the 2024 New Designers Exhibition. My work was then after shortlisted and exhibited in the Diana Porter Gallery a part of their New Designers Exhibition 2024.
